Post Locking Rear Diff

Is there a kit that will let me add a locking rear diff to my truck? I do farmwork and so going offroad is common for me. Has anyone done it? I'm good with wiring so that won't be an issue.

Another vote for the TrueTrac. Installed one in my truck when I did the 3.31 to 3.73 gear swap and am very happy. Only negative comment I’ve found on the web is when someone used the wrong type of oil causing issues.

I wanted something that was there at all times that didn’t require me to manually engage and mechanical lockers aren’t recommended if you tow heavy so the TrueTrac seemed like my best option.

For your question though I’m not entirely sure how hard it would be to convert the rear end for a E-Locker and might be easier to just swap out the entire rear end. The wiring under the dash should be there for the switch plugged into a dummy port on the back of the coin holder (2wd) or or you have to swap out your 4x4 switch (4wd). The biggest question would be if you have the wiring in the main harness under the truck.

Just buy the locking axle from a junk yard, that is the easiest and quickest route. Getting the dash switch and harness would not hurt. If the vast majority of your use is off road, I would consider a spool instead.

Sometimes just the locking rear axle is enough to get me going without engaging 4x4.
