Little meeting with the F150 engineers and product management teams
#11
I'm 42 and I just purchased my first new vehicle ever, a 2011 F-150. I'm blown away by the features on this truck and hearing this makes me feel even better about my purchase. Thanks for sharing.

should have told them to read the forums and learn something, we dont like the shudder/miss or the lousy eco gas mileage that some are getting, and the tranny has some issues
don't expect any real guages, they left them out years ago for a reason- saving money. Same reason they took away the glove box light and hood heat shield protectors years ago, oh and the bodyside molding and the rear wheel wheel liners.

Great they have meetings like that. Thanks for sharing.
I agree, too, that by reading the forums can give Ford engineers an idea of how people feel about their trucks and what customers would like to see different in future F150s.

Ditto the others here.... THANKS OP for going and sharing your feedback with Ford and then your experience with us. It is heartening to read that at the engineer level, Ford is trying to work with feedback from real owners.
Good tip on the gauge feature... that would cost them almost nothing to add and a large segment of truck owners would appreciate reading the gauges. It is a different segment of the population that drive trucks and we tend to work on them ourselves when we can an like to know what our trucks are doing.
My biggest concern is the door hinge issue and of course that the 2011's were made of tin. :0
also seriously, I would appreciate a truck that would fit in a garage. How about a supercab that is available with a 5ft bed? How about incorporating the USB2 jack into the console or glovebox ?

I did tell them about the headlight issues and suggested auto high beams as something to put in the luxury package. Also mentioned the missing A pillar assist loop. Told them auto running boards ( ala platinum) should be an option. Also mentioned heated steering wheel.
When you mention all this stuff they ask " are you willing to pay for it? ". Well, yes I am, roll it into some sort of pkg.
They did tell me there's more power left to get out of the Ecoboost engine - a LOT more, but that will come later.
Beings as there lots of people driving in and out of the garage with the reps on board, I'd bet they got to see first hand the driveability problems some folk have.
Part of the requirements was that had to have any necessary glasses and drivers license + insurance , so that tells me they planned to be riding and driving.
Great event overall !

i never in my life really like fords until about 18 months ago, i needed a better suv than my 2007 chevy ltz tahoe. I was taking a pay cut and needed to cut cost on vehicle payment and fuel usage. My criteria was must have 3rd row seating due to kids and tow hitch. I really like having all the navigation and technology things. I found a ford flex and looked into it. I found a used 2009 loaded with everything navigation, awd, dvd, refrigerator/freezer, third row. I drove over 200 miles one way to look at this vehicle and then purchased it. I was suprised in how the build quality was. The vehicle was better in every way than the tahoe. more interior room, quiet, drives like a luxury vehicle, hid lights, better on gas, and tow hitch. I owned this car for 14months. I just traded it in on my 2011 ford ecoboost and love the thing. Ford has really turned boring vehicles into technology and performance. even the little ford fiesta is an option to me if i ever needed a small vehicle.
Go FORD!!!

Sadly, one of the cost savings things F management did was eliminate the prior à la carte ordering system. The result is that we now have brown interiors.
