Lift, Level, or Lower for Me???
Hi,
Im having a tough time deciding between lift, level, or lowering my 2010 F150 Lariat Supercrew. i was wondering if you guys can help me to decide according to my use and driving style. I occassionally tow a trailer with a total weight of 2-3k lbs but other than that its used to just haul small items around. As for my driving style, i like to drive pretty fast, which i know most people wont agree with, but im just being honest. i dont expect the truck to handle like a car but i do average 85-95mph on the highway. It does snow where i live and we have some large potholes around town as well, so these are couple of things i have to keep in mind. If you guys would like to know anything else about the truck or my use of it, feel free to ask. here are some reasons why i am considering each type of suspension.
Lift: i really like lifted trucks, i used to have a 03 f250 with a 6" lift and 35s. i dont go off roading, just like the extra clearance during the winter when it snows. the thing i hate about lifts is that they kind of kill mpg's, especially on windy days and on the highway. if i lift, i would go with the Rancho 4" kit (love DesertDawg's old truck lol and ive seen another dark grey truck with black xd monsters that looked sick as well).
Level: leveling kits are nice because they give an "off-road" look without having to spend money on a full lift kit, but extra stress is placed on oem parts. the bad part for me is that i like an aggressive stance so trimming fenders would probably be needed. i am considering either HBS/AS 2" or AS 2.5" and 3" rear block. wheel/tire set up would probably be either 20x9 0 offset with 33s or +18 or so offset with 34s (not sure if 0 offset would fit with 34s) also considering -12 but need to find out how much work is needed for them to fit.
Lower: ive always had lowered cars with awesome suspension systems. i like lowering vehicles due to the fact that they handle well. i think on a truck, added benefit would be increase in mpg's. i know a truck wont handle like a car, but im sure alot of body roll would be reduced. if i lowered, i would run 24 inch wheels with 295/40/24 tires. i would either do 2" rear lowering shackles or do a 2/4 drop system.
appreciate the help! btw, here are some current pics of my truck.

First Tiger of G.R.O.S.S.
dropping a 4x4 doesn't make sense to me. The level kit is very cheap and can be done in 3-5 hours if you have decent tools and know what you are doing...
If you are going to spend the $$ on a real lift kit you might as well just do 6".....
My vote is for level... gets you going with mods for low cost, low amount of work, and lets you figure out if it is what you want out of the truck.. .because really, what you want matters more for YOUR truck than what everyone on here wants.

I lowered my 4x4.I especially love how it pissed everyone off so much. i loved it tho, since all the 4 wd I do is in snow and I am always loading and unloading motorcycles. I say lower it and run 24's. The only answer u will get from everyone else here is lift it and throw some black rims like everyone else did...Lame. Lifting it would look great too, with some deep dish chrome and some meaty tires.Just my opinion.Anyway, really nice truck man, do what makes you happy.
here is my old lowered Lincoln. DJM 2/4 kit.
