I couldn't find any easy and safe way to get a bottle jack up in there to push down on the LCA, so I used a flat blade heavy duty screw driver (similar pry bar should suffice, but it should have as thin and wide flat surface as possible) to act as both a lever and "ramp" to guide the strut eyelet into the LCA spring pocket while using a ball peen hammer to "coach" the eyelet into the pocket. But its important to keep the through bolt tube of the eyelet aligned with the strut pocket as it's somewhat of a interference fit.

With the relentless posts of "how do I get the strut back in after installing spacer" threads it should be obvious that it's extremely difficult to "swing" the LCA low enough just to get the lower strut eyelet into its pocket. I think a few have resorted to removing the LCA bolts from the frame out of frustration. Maybe it's possible if you have a lift, enough leverage and an extra pair of hands, but I doubt the typical "shade tree" mechanic has a lift... |
It seems that the LCA is indeed different, it also looks like the CV shaft is extended as far down as it will go. I may have to resort to removing the LCA to get them installed.
Does anyone know what size the bolts and nuts on the LCA are ? I've been looking (on my iPhone) but , I am not finding anything. Thanks. |

If you do the drivers side first it will take lots of swearing and throwing stuff and scaring your wife, and then when you do the passengers side you'll say "why the hell didn't the other side go in this easy!?"

I took a few pics of the spacers that I bought off of eBay , they do have the offset like the auto spring ones.
I was going put the skyjacker kit on until I realized I'd have to disassemble the strut to use them. So, my wife got me the Heavy Metal level kit. Edit: I think I gave up on the install when it became a pain in the butt. I could have tried a bit harder and I might have finished it on Friday. |

I just installed my HBS kit yesterday and had to use a lot of force to get the driverside strut back in. I used a pry bar and I also disconneted the breakline supports on the control arm. I think this gave me a little extra room for expansion.

Got it installed.
I'll try to take better pics and post them later. I used a ratchet strap underneath the truck to pull the LCA down. It helped quite a bit. |
Looks great. I didnt think of the rachet strap idea...
In the video on the first page, I want to know how they got the strut back in? |
