ICOM 706mk2g. Main rig mounted under the passenger seat. Run either a 102 inch whip or a high serria hs1800. Normally just run the whip tho. Talk on more cb then amateur bands anymore. Really only use it on the farm or out hunting. I know shame on me for doing that but no better then having av export cb.

That is a nice setup Cuzn. I need to install my Kenwood V71A, but haven't decided how I want to do the antenna. Could you please show how you did your antenna install - thanks.

used a Firestik SS-294A Stake mount on both sides, one is the 3/8-24 mount for HF, the VHF UHF side I added a SO-239 bulkhead.

These guys make some nice mounts too, just didn't feel like shelling out the $40ea

Thanks. So does your bed rails caps have the cutouts for the stake pockets, or did you just drill a hole for the bulkhead?

Good job!

From someone that's installed a few mobile radios, that's clean. Nice job.

Just drilled a hole for the bulk head so its all you see coming thru. Then when the antenna screws on its seamless.

While not a "ham" radio, it is a Motorola XTL 5000 03 head, 700/800 on our trunk system, the portable in the shot is an APX7000 vhf/700-800 and does go into the ham band...

Oh....it was quite cold that morning...
