LED inside mirror and back glass
I have a 2014 F150 3.5 echoboost. Twice within the last 3 months the small light in the outside mirror and rear window defrost switch has gone out. Service man say's they have never had another F 150 to have that problem. Is this a common problem for any of you? First time he said bulb cannot be replaced. They had to replace the entire switch. Will get this one replaced soon. All under warranty. Any thought's?

It's not the switch, but the light inside the switch..does not come on when the switch is pressed even thou the defroster on mirrors and back glass work. Serviceman said they never had a bulb..except mine not come on. With the same bulb failing twice to come on within a 3 month period, just wondering if anyone else has this problem. as stated above serviceman says entire switch has to be replaced..again.
Just so happens that I bought my truck ('13 5.0 XLT 4x4 SCab) to the dealership for what seems like the exact issue. What I noticed is that the light doesn't come on with the LED (obviously), and while the back glass defroster "works," in reality it seems to only defrost half of the back glass.
That lines up exactly with what the service manager at the local dealership tells me. I assumed it was just an LED....the service manager told me "naah....it may be the actual switch/contact/etc. in the back glass itself. Go ahead and bring it in."
Waiting to find out what specifically is wrong, and will share here, if you'd like. Should find out a bit later today for sure.

Still waiting. I went back to pick up my truck today (needed it today/tomorrow); they're saying that the 'back glass assembly' needs replacing and that it's not covered under my warrant.
I asked them to look into it further....because the glass itself isn't the issue, according to the service writer. The issue is that supposedly the switch that completes the circuit when the glass closes all the way is faulty, and to ME, when the ExtraCARE brochure says "heated backglass (electrical only - not damage or breakage)", it seems to suggest it should be fixed under warranty.
If it's not, frankly, I'll either a) just not fix it or b) take my sweet time getting around to it. Supposedly it's going to cost around $600 just for the glass, plus $100 for install, and while I CAN afford it, I sure as hell don't plan on spending that kind of money right away.
I'll post here again when I get final confirmation.
