Lamin-X
Anyone ever use Lamin-X to tint their headlights or taillights? Looking to get rid of the chrome on both the heads and tails. I have a grey 09 and the chrome doesn't look real good to me. This stuff looks great and it protects your lens. It's either this or VHT Nite-Shade. What do you all think would be best?
I actually bought the Lamin-x for my tails and my fogs for around $80.00 I think. I applied the Lamin-x to my tails as directed and they didn't seem to cover the entire taillight. I could still see part of the chrome that I wanted to cover in the first place. I ripped it off and then called Lamin-x to find that they want pictures before you can return. So I cut my losses and now I am going to paint and tint with the VHT nightshades which looks way better. So IMO save your money and skip to the Nightshades.
Thanks for the response. Let me know how the VHT works out and post some pics if you can. I really want to do the Harley effect for both my tails and heads. And then cover up the orange reflectors on the side mirrors and on the headlights as well
I know a few people who have used laminx for there tails. Looks great imo. I have vht on mine and I like it a lot but if you want it to be as glossy as your paint then the laminx is the easier route.
Laminx also seems to reduce the light output a lot more.

Dont tint your headlights! They dont let the plastic contract and retract with heat and form stress cracks.

Some brands may do that but I've also had dark smoke tint from lamin x on my 06 GT headlights for three to four years now and haven't had that issue at least myself.
Fogs were dead easy.
Headlamps were much harder due to the compound curves. The 2nd one went fine, but on the first one I trapped some water (looks like small blisters). I popped the larger ones with a pin, and left the truck in the sun, which should drive the moisture out. Fingers crossed it that it will look decent tomorrow.
I worked in a sign shop for a few years (many years ago), and did vinyl graphics on signs, truck lettering, etc. 2 and 4 mil 3M graphic film is MUCH easier to apply.
I had considered Lamin-X for the hood in place of a deflector, but their website indicates it is pretty difficult to install. Glad now I didn't buy it, as I prob. wouldn't have been happy about now.
I did the headlamps for protection only, and the fogs for protection + fog (yellow light works better than white). I wouldn't use Lamin-X for tinting rears, as the rear is less prone to damage from stones, etc. The VHT night shades looks easier, cheaper and lets you control the degree of tint.
