Also, how is it wired?

Does sub have settings? Mine a sound ordinance 8bt has a switch in the side. One way was if I was using inline inputs such as speaker leads and the other was for the remote on wire. If it's in the wrong position it won't turn on.

Yes. Put the ground between the existing ground wire and the screw. Nice solid contact.

You may be onto something here. The "twisted pair of white wire with purple stripe and white wire with orange stripe" was BURIED within a very large bundle of wires. It was not as readily available as the instructions made it appear. I was able to get the white/purple from that bundle, but took the white/orange from a connector below it. Could that be the culprit?
The two wire connector that they sent me did NOT have the quick wiretaps on it. The two wires ends were just that, bare ends and the package did not contain the wire taps. I bought simple taps at Lowe's tonight and tapped those two wires.

Keep us posted!
I'm pretty adept at basic wiring and mechanical, but what really sucks is that I cannot locate my handheld volt meter since we've moved. That would be really handy right now.

Yup! That's it. You are on a wrong wire/wires. If I remember...my wire colors were off from the directions as well. A test speaker will confirm.

Well shizzzz.
Is there a chance that you could snap a pic of what you tapped into Brian? If not a pic, at least what colors they might be? There wasn't a single, separate, twisted pair in that footwell. I'm wondering if our 2013s are wired a little differently.

I can try and snap one for you tomorrow...but going to be busy. Going to my first RV show! New truck means pulling a small house lol!

And closer...
You can see I did not use t-taps...I hate them!

White with purple gets the brown
White with tan gets the purple

And as you can see, the wires you need are twisted from the factory. They are at the front of the front door in the kick panel.

Brian, you rock. Thank you sir.
However, after my last post I decided to run out (31* btw) and dig back into it. There are twisted white with purple and with orange stripes wires WAYYYYY up at the top of the panel right where they go into the passenger's door connector. I unscrewed the junction box there, split open the shrink wrap and was able to get to the two twisted wires. Put on new taps, put the key in the ignition and helllllooooooooooooooo green power light!!!!

I took the Plat for a spin and holy hell, this is louder than I had expected. I like a bit of boom, so I dialed the bass back to neutral, mids to +2 and highs to +4 and damn she sounds good and I didn't have to crank it as much as before.

So I've gone from defeated, to challenged, to cold, to wishing my hands were smaller, to pleasantly surprised and very happy with the outcome!!! For anyone looking for a factory look, almost plug and play subwoofer then this is the setup. It pounds harder than the JL 8'' that I had in the old truck, but it's not as crisp and that's ok. For a single 10'' that was designed for this truck it was worth every penny of the order from Levittown.

Man I should have taken a pic of my harness in that rocker panel. It's one large *** bundle of mess in a TON of shrink wrap. The wire taps that I used are pretty secure, and now they are between the truck and the junction panel there in the footwell.
Thanks for the help Brian. Much appreciated. This thing rocks.

Glad I could be of help and that you are happy! I think you will find lowering the bass to -2 will clean it up a lot. Two reasons for this...1 the kicker will be cleaner and not as likely to clip (distort) 2 the stock door speakers don't handle bass that well so by lowering the setting, it will be like a poor mans cross over.
