K&N CAI Install
Didn't know some of you guys were so passionate about original Ford equipment. I've owned 99 Dakota, 05 Ram Hemi and this 09 Lariat 5.4. I put CAIs on all of them and was pleased with the results. If I don't like this one I'll put the original back. I was also thinking the original could be modified with a chrome tube to replace the pipe that's there now. Retain top hat and OEM filter and place tube between MAF and throttle body. This would remove the section with all the sound damping, horse power robbing chambers. What do you think?
No, your post was rude as hell.
And I don't see the point of busting someone who points out the facts.
Have a nice day!

If you look at the K&N website, you'll see they charge LESS for the chrome/metallic tube.
I am still right about the tunes are the key 20RWHP are waiting to be unleashed. Thats about 10-15rwhp across the power curve. Just saying CAI have there place over the stock.......... I just dont like having to remove it when I get it serviced thats why I will not get one. However I have and run a tune and it is great. But hey good to have a wide range of opinnions otherwise it would be very boring in here.
The above statement is based on my observations with the 2004-2008. Once again, I suspect the improved 09-10 intake reduces the overall intake increases.
The intake is NOT going to add an additional 20RWHP above (on top of) the tune increases. At best you'll see 1/2 of the intake's advertised gains even with a custom tune. If drone is an issue, the valve timing will have to be adjusted which will cut that gain even more.

never said it would add on top of, but I did say in conjunction with a tune it would. You can go to JDMs website to look at the dyno charts of 2009+ F150s dynoed. You are right the 2009 intake is pretty darn good that is why I am not changing mine.
I guess you can put me on the list of haters on the after market intakes... The advertised HP is carp...
