I'll be honest- I'm not sure I could have swapped the part by just partially opening the plug on the passenger side. Due to all the wiring, it was still very awkward reaching up to the hole. I'll get it eventually

got mine installed.
driver side was fine. took longer to pull the plastic plug than the actual install - which was a breeze. 10-15mins tops.

the passenger side was fine...except i spent 2 hrs trying to fish out the dropped oem unit between the wall assembly i didn't think to tie the string on the oem part but i did on the new part. i'm such a moron. it started to rain and i had to close everything back up....so now there's an oem @#$% door check inside the side wall FREE to anyone who can fish it out.

btw, i removed the fuse panel & the side door trim in front of that and then removed another rubber plug so i can look into "the bottomless pit" and actually felt the oem part hanging in there...but too high to pull down and too low to be retrieved from up top. for now - it stays.

btw...great product. it should be standard equipment!

Doesn't sound like you want to get it out! LOL Well if you do the only way I think you might be able to get it out if you don't want to remove all the wire bundles and all, is to pull the detent you put in out and get yourself a flexible magnet and use the hole in the door where detent fits thru and fish it out that way.

Got mine done just a bit ago - best thing since sliced bread!! Like everyone else has said the drivers side was pretty simple. String / wire is a must for the just-in-case scenario. The pass side was just what the directions and everyone else has said - lots of wires in the way of the cover and took a couple more minutes to get back in but not too bad. Highly recommended!!

Just installed mine. No blood and both plugs installed. Didn't pull the plug from passenger side, only pulled the corner down. If I had pulled it out I would never have gotten it back in with tha 4x4 module blocking the plug. Didn't need the string because I didn't end up dropping it. But did use it to help guide it in.

I knew this was a great idea right off. After holding my door for about 5 min's yesterday so it wouldn't rub against the concrete wall, I'm not waiting any longer.

Trust me - you won't be sorry about the $ or the time.

Just got mine installed today. Driver side was an absolute breeze, and like many have said...the passenger side was a complete pain in the ****. I ended up removing the glove box as recommended, only to reveal an intense jungle of wires and harnesses! Getting the rubber piece off the door to get in was not all that tough, but I am pretty sure I don't have it back on correctly. I think it is good enough.

The product itself is outstanding! Does exactly what it says, and now I can't wait for the back doors to become available!
