Hello all! I just purchased my 2011 crew cab short bed with a 5.0 (still got temps tags it’s so new). Holy cow! It’s a nice little rig, I’m in love with it!! Now if I can drive it somewhere other than work, that would be great!! Any problems I should be aware of with it? I know it currently has a recall on it, the dealership told me to bring it back and they will fix it for free (obviously), I just don’t know what the recall is for. The salesman did tell me that it’s not a safety recall. I’m also wondering, I’m wanting to go ahead and hook up my cb in it when I’m off tomorrow (Thursday). Any cbers on here have one set up? What’s the best place to mount the antennas. I’m wanting to run dual fiberglass antennas. I was wanting to put it on the backside of the bed in between the bed and the cab, but not much room! Then I was thinking duals on the mirrors, but it’s got the big plastic mirrors so that won’t work. Any ideas? Thanks for the help!
Thank you! Takes some getting used to, I’m used to my 4 cylinder Camry! A lot different!! Gonna see how she really does, I’m going to Tennessee and Alabama next month so hopefully she will be fine on the trip!
Welcome. Look up the following: rear defrost issue (not sure if on the one you have, def an issue on the slider) third brake light, IWE as you have 4wd, the trans recall you know about. The earlier 5.0’s had issues with oblong cylinders. There is an issue with the T-connector for coolant on the front of the waterpump.
There’s a fuse that can go bad and causes your fuel pump to stop working. They sell a kit to fix it, it’s $15 or so. There’s a fuel pump relay under the bed above the spare that can corrode and leave you stranded. It’s a $30 part. It’s not an eco boost so no need to worry about the intercooler building up water inside.
Finally, the EPAS or electronics steering rack is fragile. If you level your truck have the shop disconnect the battery to prevent damage to it
