Default Just how water resistant are key fobs?

I have a 2009 SCAB, with the 2 button key fob. I left in the pocket of my swim trucks this morning. I realized it 30 minutes after getting in the pool. I opened it up and there was very little water in there. I removed the battery and pcb board, blew it out with canned air. It is working fine for now. I am concered that the passage of time (corrosion) with make if fail.

Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Dry out and test.

Haven't done that yet with my F150 fob yet. A few years ago my wife did throw my vette fob in the washer and dryer. Opened it up, dried it out, still works today.

Squirt it with something like Corrosion X to inhibit any oxidation.

Take it apart and put it in a ziploc bag with rice in it. Leave it for a day and try it then.

Next time dunk it in distilled water and than dry it out as best possible with a can of air, etc and than use the rice trick.

Or this will happen even though it's an American product and OP if its fresh water you should be ok but if it's salt water I would think it be only a matter of time before it craps out.

Thanks everybody!

I like the distilled water idea. I didn't think about that. I have tried the bag of rice trick on a cell phone before, but no Asians showed up! LOL

The one piece key/remote for my wife's 2013 Fusion survived a trip through the washer AND dryer a few months ago. Worked perfect right after, and ever since, but did the rice thing just as a precaution. I shudder to think what that puppy cost to replace if it did drown!
