Just got truck pcm updated

Posting to bump this in case anyone else missed it.
Wow... What a difference. EVERYONE should have this update!
Quote button won't work for me. Anyways, someone please explain this to me. I have a 5.4L V8 2010 Platinum s-crew. I'm curious if this is something I should look into for my truck. I have 38k on my truck and it first touched the road in January of 2011. I don't know what a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) actually is. Is this actually the software update for the PCM?
On another note, I'm curious about my mpg as well. I do 70%/30% city/hwy driving. I used to get about 14/18-19. I changed my tires to a size about an inch bigger than the stock Pirelli Scorpions. At about the same time, I had to have work done for my catalytic converters. When I got the car back, I noticed my mileage (from the computer's mpg calculator) over the next couple of weeks went from the above, to about 12.5/16. Noticeable drop in my opinion. Could the TSB fix this, or at least help it? And are there any easy things (the hardest being changing plugs and wires) that I could do to help improve my mileage.
Long story short, somebody just explain TSB's to me lol. Thanks!

Unless you had your speedo corrected for the larger tires, you will are traveling more miles than your vehicle thinks. Your new lower mileage may actually be about the same as before.

Surprisingly, I did account for that, and could ultimately be the problem. Who knows..lol. I almost regret getting the bigger tires if they are in fact the source of my loss in MPG..40ish miles per tank?? jeez...

If I took the truck to the dealership and asked them if there were any pcm updates, would they be able to tell me this? I'm running on my extended warranty right now, so I wonder if that would cover any updates....

Yup. I simply said I was having 1st to 2nd shifting/bump on downshift issues and they updated it. I am under extended warranty and they did it with no question.

You got lucky. No software updates are actually covered under any extended warranty. I would imagine when they submitted the claim they found this out as well. Did they charge you a deductible? And what warranty do you have?

I should have been clearer. I also have the pre-paid maintenance. Not sure which one it was covered on.
They also updated my Sync software and mentioned *that* was at "good will."
I remain *very* happy with the update. Like a new truck. Have not driven enough to check mileage yet.

I have tunes frown 5star and jlp so once I reload their tunes I won't get the benefit of this will I. Unless someone knows that these companies stay up to date with the current versions from ford. How is the wot shift speed and quality with the calibration?

Did the update fix the bump issues when downshifting 3 - 1? I've just noticed this on my new 2012 XTR, 5 liter. The bulid date is 6/12. I've been told its normal for 4x4's to do this. I hate to believe that.
