Can't find my answer...

Does anyone know what format the Jukebox encodes a CD to? I assume it doesn't put the .WAV file on the hard drive. My guess is it encodes as a 128kbps .MP3.

Anyone know for sure?

I have right at $3k in my sound system and quality is extremely important. I won't use jukebox if it compresses. Just a personal preference.

 

i actually assume it just transfers .wav over. why are you messing with jukebox anyhow with 3k in your system. just get a hdd and put higher quality tunes on there and run from the usb 2. sheesh

 

I totally agree wrt to the external hdd... or just use a large USB stick.

I would be very surprised to learn that the juke box does not use a highly compressed (and highly proprietary) format. It is a SONY after all. Sony doesn't play well with others.
