jiffy lube
geez.. just did a quick 5-20 blend oil change at jiffy lube and it was 91 bucks! i almost had a heart attack at the counter considering i even provided the new motorcraft filter.
my last oil change was done by ford for only 64 bucks out the door & that included the filter. am i paying for the convenience of only a 30 minute wait vs. about 90 mins at ford??!! i remember years ago it was always cheaper to go to places like this instead of the dealer.
yeah i know.. its cheapest if i do it myself but dont have the driveway space or desire.

$64 sounds about right, cause it's $50 out the door for my 5.4, which uses less oil. $91 (even more because you provided the filter) is highway robbery! My dealer changed mine is less than half an hour last time too, but obviously there are a lot of variables that go into how long it takes.
As far as changing your own oil, it's not worth it IMO. It's over $35 just for the oil and filter for me (all MC, synblend, etc.) and then I have the big PITA of disposing fluids, dedicating time to doing it, etc. It's worth the $10-15 to have it be someone else's problem. Plus I'd spend that much in gas disposing of the old oil.

My dealer offers some prepaid oil changes...last offer I saw was $99 for 3 oil changes and there were no limits on the size/type of vehicle. Yes, that's $99 for THREE changes. This is offered through their accessories guy, not the service writers.

Check the drain plug and hope and pray they didn't cross thread it. Long story short, had them do an oil change before heading on a cross country trip and at about 300 miles into it in the middle of the night a low oil light and knocking started, pulled over at truck stop and saw oil covered the bottom and back of the car!
Truck shop did oil change and we headed out next morning and about 30 miles into it, the motor threw a rod and blew a hole in the case.
Luckily the truck garage kept the oil filter from jiffy lube with the torn gasket and we had a Saturn when the customer service was great. They took all paper work, put in new motor while we were on our trip and covered rental car! They went after jiffy lube and we received a $10,000 check a few weeks later from jiffy lube.

Actually last time I used one of the coupons on the ford owners website it was like 39.99 then get $10 rebate later. Heck even Meineke runs specials all the time to keep it around 30-40 tops.
