Iwe failure
Brought my truck in to dealer. It has 20,000 miles on it. The I W E. has been making racket. And I'm having them look into the 55-60 mph shutter issue and the " poping" sound when I go from park to reverse sound. It's an eccoboost scab

Integrated Wheel End
IWE works like this:
Basically they are what joins the axle to the hub for 4wd, and then disconnects them for 2wd. They operate on vacuum. They have a spring inside them to keep them extended (engaged/4wd), and the vacuum will overcome the spring pressure to compress the IWE (disengaged/2wd).
This sytem prevents the axles from turning all the time in 2WD for normal everyday driving. Chevy and Dodges turn all the time. Less wear but some don't like the IWE system. I like solid axles and manual hubs.
