Default I've got a weird request if you please...

Hi folks,
This is diff so I thot I would post by itself..sorry if I'm wrong. Lil background. 5 Star Ford had the truck couldn't figure out wby wouldn't run right etc. Well in process they disconnected all of the actermarket items on the truck. Which is extensive. Off road lights etc. now I had a alarm remote start after market on the truck Avitel (viper) is the make. But First disconnected all items so my question is how are these things wired and where to? Ive never wired or messed with one at all so I'm dumb to it. If you were a Ford tech and you had instructions to disconnect all aftermarket items and there's allot of them. And you had to disconnect remote start. What or where would you do it at? The easiest is what I'm getting at. I hope that's what he did and with y'all's know how maybe I can get that going again.. I hope.. I've got all the lights going and etc remote start alarm is what's left. Altho the alarm kinda works. I hit button on alarm fob and I get the chirp. But it does not actuate the locks on the truck at all. But it chirps twice when I hit it again. Releasing alarm. I have to use key fob to actually lock truck. So where would you go to disconnect that the easiest and then where would be the nexr easiesr place please.. hoping it's just a single wire somewhere that I need to hook up and be going again.. I hope... Thx for your this and help.

I would think obviously the ford tech figured you had a wiring issue with some of your add-ons !!! I would personally be going back to a known good dealer that installed that model remote start etc for repairs....... I know years ago those corner dealers installed remote starts etc with those push on & crimp with pliers to do installs & that stupid connector would break & tear your wiring ??

id look up under the dash in the driver side foot well - installers do tend to do a crappy job splicing wires but a lot of times they still go back to harness plugs in the alarm brain unit. Id try to find that little black box and check the connections then you can trace them back. If you google the make and model number it should at least show you what you're looking for

yes. its all wired there, its under that lil side panel. also the spare key and box is mounted under the wheel still. i was thinking along the lines of maybe a fuse box or a wire to a starter or however theyrer wired, i had one of those master digital sw boards things that have the fuse relay and wire hook ups all in one under the hood, and all my lights were wired to it so the tech just pulled the board to kill the lights etc.. i know the alarm relay want wired to that cuz it came much later. so he did the disconnect outside so i was thinking maybe he did something with it in that area.. ? i could be dead wrong but i was thinking already there easiest scenario, i dont know how theyre wired up. im aware of the pat sys extra key and brain, i also found my alarm has a tilt alarm as well, i guess ffor towing ?? i lil mercury bubble switch tube thing set horizontal inside drv kick panel. i assume thats what its for?? im just trying to save myself some cash cuz i know its something easy and dont want to shell out cash for something simple. its not simple on the wiring part but if you have some experience in installing then it be easy to spot it. Ive eyeballed the install manual and it gets pretty or seem intricate.

yep i had a extra dbl cooling fan hooked into a fuse at the distribution box under hood. theyre engineers in detroit and svc mngr 3 way call couldnt explain why every other time you started it that it would back feed power into the tcm screwing things up. but with it disconnected it would run perfectly. it was the culprit just didnt make sense and was wired professionally. he ended up tying into a circuit that was directly involved with the tcm. like i said theyre engr couldnt explain why it would back feed into tcm every other time started..? every time i can understand, but every other?? just doesnt make sense to me. but it fixed the issue. i told ford 1100 dollars later and tcm x2 later, to hook everything back up and they declined, said they dont touch aftermarket products. i told em you touched them enuff to disconnect everything and from where and how etc etc.. my problem.... more than what you wanted to know i bet but thats what happened and how it happened.

Well I was hoping and praying for an outside shot at this by chance. I'm looking at 300.00 right off the top for that deal. What sucks is I know for a fact it's something easy .odds are it's a single wire somewhere, but for a shop to review and look was quoted 300 already. I would like to set remote start back up and relink my alarm to my truck and locks. Very convenient indeed. I've gone without it so long that I've forgotten what keys are the remote start on the fob.. lol. Well ty y'all for the help, y'all saved me a ton so far. Thjs site js plum off the charts for help and Ford brains.its a wonderful resource and combining our voices and opinions makes us a formitiable opponent. I sure wish we could convince Ford Abt refunding and recall on that pwr steering deal, theyrw wrong for not covering that. I've escaped that so far but so many havent. I love Ford but they're wrong on that one all the way. One day someone is gonna bite the bullet and get themselves killed with that pwr steering problem and then the transpo dept going to get involved and then force Ford to do the right thing.anyways that's my 2 cents worth.
