Default Issues with remote lock/unlock

Have you guys had any issues where your keys just won't lock or unlock your truck? It's not a battery in the key because when this happens, both keys don't work. I'll be standing 5-10 feet from the truck and hitting unlock or lock does nothing. I end up having to use the keypad on the door to lock the truck. It seems to happen more when it's raining, but not only when it rains. This is for a 2014 F-150 XLT.

Anyone seen this or have any advice?

Have anything electronic turned on in the truck like a radar detector, cell phone charger, dash cam, after market stereo, etc....?

Parking near power lines or any sort of radio transmission tower is another possibility.

No. Nothing aftermarket, no radar detector. It doesn't happen in one consistent location. Sometimes it's a random parking lot. Sometimes it's at work. Sometimes at home.

The only thing I can think of is the toll ePass thing I have on the windshield. I wonder where the receiver is for the signal from the key.

This happens to me as well. I have to press the button a few times before they lock/unlock. Haven't checked the batteries on both FOB though.

when you have to press the button a few times, try pulling the FOB apart and checking the contacts on the batteries. my remote start range got real crappy, then i took the FOB apart, and the contacts had stuff on them. i removed it, and my remote start range and lock/unlock range is restored.

got to where i had to hit buttons multiple times for things to happen.

check those battery contacts.

I had one fob just die unexpectedly. Replaced the battery, still no go. Weird. I suspect it is of Chinese manufacture, lol!

Yeah I'd be ok with a few button presses if that's what it took. I could hit the button 30 times and nothing will happen.

I'l check them next time it happens, but on several occasions, when this has happened in the driveway, I've gone in and grabbed the spare key to the truck to compare and it's the same thing.

Thanks for posting this.

I'm almost annoyed that it helped. I don't know why I'd have the same issue with both keys at the same time though. But just for the hell of it, I tried what you said. The key stopped working the other day. Pulled out my pocketknife, pried the key open, pulled battery out, checked everything over, and put it back together. Has been working instantaneously with no delay on the first button press every time now.
