Default Issues after new battery install

2013 XLT 5.0. battery died so I replaced it. After the new battery install the passenger side taillight lights up. I checked several fuses that I thought may be the problem and didn't find any bad ones. I went for a short ride and after a few miles a bunch of stuff started shutting down... radio, EPAs, gauges, heater. etc. When I pulled into my driveway the truck was dieing. I checked the battery voltage and it was down to 9.7 volts so apparently the alternator isn't charging the battery. I noticed a fuse on the circuit breaker on the positive battery cable (pictured below) was blown so I charged the battery and replaced the circuit breaker. That didn't fix it. When I connect the battery the passenger taillight lights up and when I start the truck Check 4x4 and Check Brakes lights up on the dash and the passenger taillight stays lit. I unplugged the BMS and that didn't change anything.

disconnect and reconnect the terminals?

Sounds like a communication error when you say "....a bunch of stuff started shutting down".

When you say the truck wad idling so poorly that it nearly stalled also sounds like a communication error.....speed sensors not knowing what speed you are traveling, fuel metering is all screwed up, and other computer controlled related problems because the computer is confused.

GM was bad for throwing communication codes (at least on my truck) if you hesitate during installation and there is a lot of arcing. Seems that when reconnected and full voltage isn't instantly meat there are communication errors.

Good troubleshoot ideas, but to remove and replace a battery, things that used to work should not suddenly quit working, like fuses.

Did you check the new battery's voltage before connecting it?

I've disconnected and reconnected it several times in the last 2 days that I've been working on it. It's disconnected now because the passenger rear taillight stays lit as long as the battery is connected.

Yes and I charged the battery again after it drained down to 9.7 volts on my test drive. After the test drive I noticed the blown fuse on the circuit breaker. I thought my issues would be over after I changed the circuit breaker that had a blown fuse, but no such luck.

Is The Battery Management System still hooked up on it?
I would start by checking the Grounds and wire going down to the Starter and Fuse Block, it seems like something is loose. Next I would make sure the Alternator is putting out since it seems like the truck was running on Battery alone for it to die that quick.

The BMS was hooked up until I swapped the battery and all of the problems started. After all of the problems started I've tried it hooked up and unhooked..

Bad alternator, fried the fuse block, battery lasts about 10 minutes after that?

It's fixed. BCM took a dump. It cost around $950 for a new BCM and getting the BCM programmed to the truck.
