Default iPod and Ford Sync - still indexing

Anyone else with this issue?

I leave my iPod plugged in all the time, I update it maybe once a month, but it never leaves the usb in the truck. I've pulled the fuse for Sync several times now, it works for a couple of weeks, the never stops indexing.

Day 3 - still indexing the same iPod its been using flawlessly for 2 weeks. I've reset all of the settings... Etc.

So, any thoughts or does it go back to the dealer for the 5th time?
(2 times for this, 2 times for "radiator flap" doodah ripping out for no good reason)

Try resetting the iPod itself, mine was corrupted and would index everyone the radio was turned on. Then it would index for around 35mins on long drives then be fine. Now that I've reset it it works flawlessly. Takes probably 15 secs to index 800 songs when I plug it in. Hope this helps!

I had a similiar issue and took it to Ford. They told me that even though my iPod 5th gen was on the compatblity list, it would have problems. He suggested I use a thumb drive, which I am now using and it's been fine ever since. Irritating because I wanted to keep the iPod and it worked fine for so long but it must have gotten a software update and then started having problems.

Mine is a 32gig 5th gen touch. I tried fully resetting the iPod, with no luck.

Seems that just pulling the fuse has offered a solution.

If I use a thumb drive how do I organize the songs on it? I tried once but it never worked, I figured it was because of the folder/album/song layout... Idk

Ooh that might be it, my touch never worked with it, that's why I had to use my nano.

I have an iPod Classic (160 gig) with 13,000+ songs on it, and maybe 1000 podcast files. It took maybe a minute to index then a message came up and said that due to the number of songs that voice search wouldn't work. It still works and all 13,000+ songs show up.

Rebooting you iPod can solve all kinds of problems btw.

If my behemoth works with Sync, no one else should have a problem.

Mine does the same thing sometimes too, with some other glitches !

My solution per my service manger (apple and Microsoft often clash) leave it unplugged when not in use ! Seems to work so far, but I mostly listen to sat radio !

I totally reset the iPod, no dice...

I pulled syncs fuse... Back to perfect.

Now, tminus 14 days and I'll have to do it again. I shouldn't HAVE to use a thumb drive if it was designed for an iPod... I'll try unplugging it and see what happens.

I unplugged my iPod and selected shuffle songs on the iPod and plugged it back in, said USB to the lady and badda boom, no more indexing. Maybe I lucked out.
