Default Intermittent Backup Camera

My backup camera appears to be intermittent. When I go into reverse sometimes there are a bunch of green squiggly lines all over the screen and it will go black. I have replaced the camera and checked the wiring.
I noticed yesterday that if I wiggle the console shifter it would sometimes clear up. Is there anything like a switch or so forth inside the console that could get dirty or go bad and cause this? I don't know where else to look at this point.

I'd try disconnecting the battery and then unplugging the 3 big connectors that go into the firewall towards the top on the passenger side.

I've tried cleaning all the connections, broke off the rear emblem to get to the camera and clean that connection, and still had issues. The other day I was wrapping my AC lines and disconnected the battery and unplugged those to get more room. Went back in the truck and now my camera has been working.

It went from intermittent, to very rarely working at all and not even showing a blue screen, then after I did that it started working and has been for the past couple of days/ maybe a week. It's worth a shot and doesn't cost anything.

Also, what camera did you buy? I was debating on buying one and was just going to until it started working. OEM was like $200-300 and there are aftermarket replacements for like $100.

If none of that works, I think I've seen people saying they had success with replacing the tailgate wire. It's like $30-35 or so on Amazon

Thanks for the info, I'll definitely give that a try. It does kind of make sense actually because I noticed the other day that when I'm in reverse and release my parking brake, the screen flickers when it releases and does the thunk. I actually removed the tailgate wire and checked each wire in it pin to pin with an ohmmeter while shaking it but it never changed. I know it could still be the problem though and will be my next step it your trick doesn't work.
I got the camera from 1A Auto. It works like normal with the parking lines and so forth plus has a lifetime warranty.

Well, I disconnected the battery, then the cable connectors and sprayed them with DeOxit but still didn't help. I ordered the tailgate cable to see if that helps even though mine traced out good. I hate intermittent problems!!!

When the cameras on my wife's edge and sons explorer did this, they replaced the camera and programmed them to the car and all was well again.
