Blower Motor
Found a used blower motor on eBay for around 40 or 50$ and that fixed it. I used zip ties to keep the air deflector from moving back and forth as well. Fixing it tje correct way was not worth the cost and work for me.

Great Tip!
Thanks for the great tip! This just happened to me and my F150 2013. Took the fan motor off and sure enough I found the same rubber piece inside the fan well. Fan is working great now! The only thing I can add to this thread is that the fan motor is held in place by three 8 mm screws. The one in the back is very difficult to remove. Also, it is a very tight fit in getting the motor out. Not much room between the motor and floor.

Pulling the carpet back made removing the back screw way easier. It also helps putting it back in. I'm taking mine to the dealer tomorrow. I have a 3rd party warranty from Ethos Group so we'll see how badly I get hosed.

No luck
$1200 for the repair, warranty told me to kick rocks. I guess when I cancel it I will get enough back to cover this last breakage and balance it out. Keep your receipts on repairs. I think this will hit the fan eventually when these model years get into higher mileage. Recalls do happen so keep your fingers crossed. Best of luck friends.

Has anyone come up with a fix for this?
i had this issue happen, and I pulled the rubber piece out. Fan works great but now I noticed that the passenger side defroster doesn't defrost quite as nicely/quickly and the spread isn't as even for hot air being thrown from the defrost/passenger mirror vent.
likely due to the blend door being rigged open with zip ties (I did this too).
whats the fix? What are the parts called that fix the issue?
thanks

Its the recirculation door actuator. It’s a cheap part. Getting to it is the real trick.

I thought the broken part was the recirculating door itself?? One person commented earlier that it would require complete removal of the air box to replace if and that it's not an individual piece that can be replaced, it's a larger more complex component that requires replacement (also full removal of the air box inside the dash).
the piece that I found in the squirrel cage a female end, not the male (plastic gear) end you see on the door actuator.
i should post up a pic so I can be a little more specific with what I mean. Hard to describe online.
