Default Installing factory brake controller

I recently bought a used 2012 Screw 3.5L FX-2 that appears to have the tow package, but not the brake controller. Can I just buy the "dash-mounted unit" from Ford and plug it in or is it much more involved than that?
Thanks.

Dealer will still have to flash the computer so it knows the TBC is there.

It's plug and play for the install [about 5 mins] but you will have to have the pcm flashed by a dealer for it to work. some dealers will do it free if you buy the controller from them others charge in the neighborhood of 1/2 to one hour labor.
it is well worth it as the factory controller is miles ahead of what ever is in 2nd place
