Posting this again, as I don't think my post went through the first time.
A few years ago I purchased a used '14 v6 3.5L Ecoboost Supercrew and it came with no trim on the roof except for a small piece at the rear running down behind the rear window. This weekend I installed this trim that I bought on ebay, which I'm happy with. Before installing it, I removed the small pieces of trim near the back window, cutting if off at the window.
Where the old trim runs behind the window, there are small gaps where water obviously can run into. Does anyone know if this is OK, or should fill the gaps with silicone? I'm assuming the water runs down an internal channel and passes through the truck and out the bottom, but not really sure.
Water goes down in there by design. It goes behind the rear window seal and comes out the bottom of the rear window seal.
The trim in held on behind the window with a rivet. No way to get to it other than removing the rear window and drilling it out. There's one on top, too...and I guess you saw it. I assume you bought one that sticks on with 2 sided tape?
Thanks for the reply, Pacfanweb. Yes, double-sided tape, one side was already attached to the trim out of the box.
Yes, I saw the top rivets. I cut out a notch in the trim to accommodate the rivets, but will probably use silicone as a further precaution to keep water out.

Yes, definitely put something around that top rivet, they were known for leaking.
