Well, it came back in stock on Amazon and I pulled the trigger. I am still one of the cheap holdouts and still have a 2009 FX4 with automatic climate control so I will post back on how it goes next week when it arrives and is installed. I'm hoping it will at least run the HVAC system on whatever setting I had last so I don't have to wait the enormous amount of time it takes to warm up. Once the truck is warm, I can heat the seats pretty quickly but I'm sure the rear and mirror defrost won't work, which is disappointing. But for a hundred fifteen bucks plus $45 for the flash module, I'll give it a shot.

Anyone's guess if this would work on a 2015? It doesn't have 2015 listed for the F150, but looks like the 2015 is on the list for the "evo-all" based on the fortin website.

Just curious, I have the OEM long range 2 way bi-directional that I purchased on line for about $190 bucks 2 years ago. My dealer activated it for free and it is in my trucks menu and I can change settings on it, and it will turn the heat or a/c on. I also can start if from a long, long ways away. I totally love mine and it works fine with my tunes in too.

Well that was easy! I just installed the Evo-Fort1 for my 2011 XLT that I got from Amazon for $110. I have the manual controls so I can't comment on the auto climate controls that a lot of you are talking about. Tomorrow morning is supposed to be chilly (relatively speaking) here so I'll get to try it out. I'll report back.

Wanna get this update out there in case anyone else suffers the same problem-

I'm happy to report my cabin is now nice and toasty when i enter my truck-

turns out the firmware installed in my idatalink maestro version 1.7 had a bug.
re-flashed version 2.1 and all is well-......

Well this is disappointing to report but this kit isn't plug and play on the 2009 (and likely 2010?). I pulled my steering column apart and the wiring is completely different. The "main" wiring with the large plug that has the red insert doesn't exist in my truck so I wasn't able to use this. I did also get the flash updater as well and this unit is in fact compatible with the 2009 F150 as you can toggle the option, but the plug and play kit/wiring that comes with this from Amazon doesn't work since the wiring is completely different. I'm sure I could cut and splice and get it working, but I have two reservations with this; first, I am no stranger to wiring and have installed custom audio in all of my vehicles over the years, but if I screw this up, I can't drive my truck. Second, if I were going with cut and splice kit, I would get something with more features like a Viper system. So I am throwing in the towel. I don't need remote start on a six year old truck at this point with all that is involved.

I'm sure the Evo itself will work, but the plug and play wiring they include probably will not. In the question and answer section, someone asks about a 2015 and the answer is no. Like me, you could cut and splice, but I would suggest you look into other options if you're going that route. Good luck.

As far as the horn honking upon starting, can't you just turn that "horn honk with lock" feature off on the dash display? Then you won't hear it honk when you use the remote start either.

I installed this Fortin unit right before winter started. I ended up driving my brothers car most of the winter so I didn't use it much. I did have it functioning properly.

Yesterday I went for a drive with no issues. About 45 minutes later I went to start the truck. It didn't try to start at all. After several attempts the instrument cluster showed message "start system fault"

I popped on here and saw it can be a key issue. I was using a different key. Tried the other key with no luck. Disconnected battery...still no change. I tried remote start with no luck. I removed the remote start and the truck works fine.

Fortunately this was all in my driveway so it wasn't a major inconvenience.
