Is if Ford or MS that are slow to update MySync?
Seems like with all the problems that have been reported and the already existing bugs that Ford/MS would have an update on the MySync. Either Ford isn't putting any effort into it or hasn't put enough pressure on MS to get an update rolled out.
Microsoft has no involvement in the programming of Sync, contrary to what people say. Sync is run in the Microsoft Windows Embedded Automotive OS... In other words, you can think of Sync as a program running on a Windows computer (Which is essentially what it is).
As for updates, I believe Ford outsources Sync to a third party developer. I read an article about it a LONG time ago, and can't find it anymore. I'm sure Ford has some involvement in it, but most of the programming is not done by them.

Apps, yes, but as far as I know, the main Sync program itself has been a Ford/contracted developer thing. Opening up to the public is good in the sense that it will generate awareness, and there's potential for more creativity as opposed to having a single team working on it. However, I don't think people realize that the more devices they make it comparable with, the more likely it's going to run into problems. This is why it drives me nuts when people that say "If Apple made Sync it would work perfect". Sure it would, but only with your iPod/iPhone, your Blackberry or anything else wouldn't be compatable at all. Unfortunately as you enable more and more devices with more and more unique features, it becomes harder and harder to make everything work perfectly.
