Default I own a2017 -STX with trailer package except for the Brake Controller

I installed the bake controller as per many fellows on you tube videos. It went in as expected. But when I hooked up the truck to my trailer for a test drive NOYHING shows up on my dash...NOTHING.
What did i do wrong??

OEM brake controller? Did you enable it in the truck's computer (ICM I think)?

Default Apparently not

I went thru the dashboard notices. I activated the tow notice and went thru the usual like back up sticker (NO)checklist etc. But nothing about brakes. I recall from an older Ford pickup I had where you need to install a fuse for the brakes to work. I looked for that too in this truck. It appears to be installed already. All the lights work, dashboard says its connected but NO trailer brakes

Thanks for the concern. I'm pretty well away from most of the damage, but were projected for a near direct hit earlier in the week. Just a little bit of rain and gusty wind so far. Have family in New Bern and they have no idea what they'll be going home to (or when that will be). Also have some in Wilmington who stayed and are safe so far.

In order for the trailer brake stuff to show up on the dash, it has to be enabled from a computer with IDS or Forscan software. In the past, (at least for the 11-14s) the relay added only provided power to the trailer brake backup battery and isn't needed for the brakes themselves to work. Also, the controller is only activated in the IPC (instrument panel control module) and the activation allows for adjustment of the gain and other options from the dash screen. This leads me to believe that the controller itself will work without the activation. Try to use the slider on the controller to manual brake the trailer and see if anything happens.

OP are you in the right section? You said you have a 2017 stx but this is the 09-14 section.
