The main problem for me is the shape of the back , I feel like im in a cup, no bottom support and the side wings push on my kidneys. I am 185 and 5-11. I wonder how some of my fatter friends can stand it! But they say they like the seats just fine. It is a real deel breaker for me, and i have come close to selling my truck several times, especialy after riding in my friends new chevy! This is the coolest looking truck out there and i would hate to switch, and if you do a google check on it i am not the only one.who feels this way.

I am sorry to hear that you are not enjoying your truck to its fullest. My '11 FX4 has probably the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in aside from the old early 90s Cadillac's and Lincolns (those things were like riding in lazy boy recliners haha). My brother has a '12 XLT and I personally enjoy my seats a little more but his are fine. But the OP could just have a bad set of seats. My wifes car is a '06 Ford Fusion which has super comfortable seats while my Mothers '06 Mercury Milan has terrible seats. I rode in other Milans that seemed to be fine but hers were like riding on cardboard (both are entry level with cloth seats).

To the OP, have you tried test driving other XLT's with cloth? If so did they all feel the same, or is it just your truck? I don't know if the dealer is going to do anything but it might be worth looking around online and maybe find a wrecked FX or Lariat and just do a seat swap? Good luck either way.

I tested an XLT with the buckets and thought they were comfortable, grant it I only was in it for about 20 minutes. My brothers XLT has the bench and they seemed a little stiffer to me but not bad. My guess is we are all different and for you these seats are just going to feel uncomfortable, for others they will be fine. I'd say next time you but a truck keep it over night and put some seat time in it and see if it remains comfortable after an hour or so.

You're right, we aren't alone with this. There's a couple threads out there where f150 owners complain about the same thing. I talked to my local upholstery shop and he said that he has reworked quite a few f150 seats ever since they stop having seat pans....2004 models to current. He says there's a big lack of support for your butt and the side bolsters are too pronounced. I actually had a bruise the size of my fist on my left upper thigh for a couple weeks because of itit....crazy. The dealership submitted the warranty claim under some sort of an injury. Seems to be taking forever to hear anything back from Ford. Meanwhile, I'm in a lot of pain everyday I drive it to work....takes about 20 minutes into my 60 minute commute to start to hurt. I have no choice but to drive it as it is my only car now.....traded my Mazda3 in on it. At this point I wish I had my Mazda3 back.

As a matter of fact, where is that Ford Customer Service Representative on this site??! Sure could use her help now.

What about a seat cushion for the time being. My 05 FX4 had very hard seats. I didn't have heat either, so I put a heated cushion with a seat cover. Ended that problem.

I have a base XLT with the 40/20/40 cloth seats, and both my wife and I love it! I also have back issues. When I was asked for my input when my company was ordering new F750s, this same seat was available in that truck. I BEGGED them to order my truck with these seats. They would not, as this seat could not be combined with the air suspension option. The bucket seat I ended up with SUCKS! I bought a memory foam lumbar cushion from Brookstone, which makes it more tolerable, but still far from comfortable. I just got stuck with a Ranger rental for a week. Talk about an uncomfortable seat! It is amazing how different seats can make, or break your day.An elderly guy I worked with thirty some years ago told me " there's an ***** for every seat, and a seat for every *****! " How true! I hope you find one that makes you comfortable. Much less expensive to replace a seat, rather than the truck!

The XLTs all have the same seats, whether they have "buckets" or "bench" seats. There is literally no difference in the seats except for what is in between them (console vs jump seat).

And you will notice I said "seamed" a little stiffer. It may have been due to the fact that I sat in one much longer than the other.
