I can't drive my ecoboost....
This is my "I KNOW WHY MY MPG IS SO CRAPPY" thread
I got my 14 Ecoscrew long bed 4x4 a month ago, and have been averaging 13-14 mpgs since then. Ive gotten over the fact that the mpg’s are what they are…crappy, and nowhere near advertised…until today morning.Yesterday I drove with my cousin to pick up a BMW1150R and my “not – so - ecoboost” mustang from storage. I filled up, reset the trip mpgs, and we drove 60 miles to the storage place. on the way back, I drove the Kenne bell’d notch, while he drove my truck with the bike in the bed. When he took the reins, the average MPGS wereat 13.8 for the trip (remember - I reset when we left ).The trip back was 60 or so miles This morning, when I got in the truck, I noticed he was able to get the avg up to15.1 on our cruise back, with a heavy *** bike in the bed. Simple maths tell me that he got 16.4 MPGS on the way back, just by his driving habits alone. I did beat him by 5 minutes on the way back! Im almost tempted to let him have my truck for a week and see what he can do. He has had his 2015 Tundra (in chicago) for 6 months now, so I bet he has been practicing his featherfoot, and before that he drove a cummins crewcab LB for 6 years, regularly over 20MPG's ...
He is not a hypermiler by any means, but this definitely makes me want to take a second look at my driving habits.

Boost :)
With any boosted vehicle, as I'm sure you know with your KB notch, it's all about pedal control.
My truck is a 2WD but sitting at 4WD leveled height with 75lb E-rated tires on it. I do about 70% of my commute on toll roads doing 75mph or so. The rest is stop and go through city driving. I get 15.6-16.2 on every single tank (hand calculated) since doing those modifications. My truck is over 5" taller than it was when stock and I can still get EPA advertised mileage. I'm not a granny driver or Nascar driver either.
It's a learning process with these trucks but I've been driving them almost 5 years now. You'll get it figured out

Thanks for the comforting post with gas being as cheap as it is, I might hold off for now. Maybe when my level, 20's and e rated nittos go on

at least you realize that your driving habits can and do affect your mpgs, unlike these guys who blame the EB hype right off the bat
unfortunately my wife drives even more aggressively than I do, so my mileage goes down, not up, when she drives for any length of time!

Ive gotten my tdi (which is 31/41 epa) to do 39 combined winter, 43 combined summer, and 50 hwy summer. So i thought i was very conservative with gas, but i guess i have to relearn on the boosted gasser. Btw, the boosted windsor gets 10mpgs at 2975 lbs which im thrilled about.

No doubt that driving style plays into these. So does overall speed.
I've got just shy of 12K miles on my 2014 4x4 w/ 3.31s. Averaging right at 18 MPG over its life.
Best I've gotten is 19.7 for a tank, decent portion freeway. All hand calculated.
I mostly use Costco premium fuel. I always use 93 octane.
