How can you test inhibition coil to see if it is bad?

If it is an engine with coil on plugs and missing consistently this is what we do as a first step in our shop.

We take the coil and plug out of the suspected cylinder. We then swap the plug to another cylinder and the coil to a different one. We then test drive the vehicle to see what cylinder the miss fire jumps too.

Coil on plug coils are hard to catch with an open circuit.

If it is any type of coil you can check for resistance with an ohm meter, but just because it checks with in specifications does not mean it is OK
