I honestly can't tell a difference in power when the AC is on.. Definitely not enough to choose to sweat. Lol

Some vehicles will cut out the AC under acceleration or load. Not sure if the F150 does that.

I believe almost all vehicles switch off A/C at WOT

Yes, its in the calibration. The A/C is disabled at WOT when the pedal or other conditions are met for a WOT situation. A/C itself my take up about 10hp or so but without a dyno and forcing it to stay on while WOT its hard to know. Just understand it does shut off when you go WOT.

You are overestimating the hp draw. A new home AC unit with about 5 tons of cooling will draw about 6-7.5hp. The car AC unit might draw 2.5-3.5hp continuous. The only way to know for sure is to talk to an application engineer.

I JUST had beers in Liberty, MO with a Denzo application engineer, they have the AC compressors for all of the 2017 F series trucks. I now wish I grabbed his card so I could email him and answer this question precisely! He is in charge of the F series applications, he'd know this answer!

My wife used to have a Fusion that made 175hp stock. I'm pretty sure the AC used 174.9hp.... That car was a sloth.

In all seriousness, it's most likely that a vehicle's lack of power is due to the hot outside weather but is usually only noticed when the AC is running and therefore blamed on that.

It must not use too much horsepower as Consumer Report did some testing and found that running AC did not reduce fuel mileage. This was a vehicles with larger engines as I recall.

That's like 8 months out of the year here. If you live in an area where you have the option of running it or not during the summer, you're lucky

It could drain 25% power and I'd still have it on when it's 85+ plus out lol
