Default How much does a full tank of gas affect level?

I've seen a few threads complaining about trucks not being level left to right, and some people have suggested it may be because of fuel. So I did a little experiment to see how big an impact fuel has. I measured all four corners at the gas station before and after filling up. The fill-up took about 33 gallons, so the tank was almost empty. The gas station looked level. Here are my before and after measurements:

Before | After | Change
Left Front 37 3/4 | 37 9/16 | -3/16
Right Front 37 3/4 | 37 3/4 | 0
Left Rear 39 3/4 | 39 5/16 | -7/16
Right Rear 39 3/4 | 39 1/2 | -4/16

Before filling up, my truck is perfectly level left to right, and a 2" leveling kit would make it level front to back. After filling up, the left side is down about a quarter inch. And a 1 1/2 inch leveling kit would make it level front to back.

What do I intend to do with this information? I'll probably order a 2" leveling kit. I figure that it will only sit nose high until I burn down a few gallons, so 2" will look level most of the time.

I tried to explain all this to my wife and she just rolled her eyes. Hopefully someone on the form will find it interesting. Or maybe I'll just get a ton of these -->

As an fellow engineer, I suggest you explain by taking her favorite stiletto and shave 1/4" off one of the heels and make her walk around in it all day. I am sure she shall henceforth understand the necessity of a 2" lift.

assuming you have a 36 gal tank and a gallon of gas weights about 6 LBS ...so a full tank would weigh about 216lbs.
