How many here bought a F150 instead of a luxury vehicle?

I drive an STX (hey it's still a premium to the Jeep TJ's I was looking at). After seeing the pricetag of a motor under warranty for an Audi A4 my parents own, I was pushed away from buying a used luxury car and I'm much happier with a warrantied truck, especially since i've already needed the warranty

I traded my dieing Subaru Legacy GT. I still wanted FI so got the ecoboost, but my wife's car is a loaded 07 Acura TSX and out weekender is a 02 Audi TT 225 Quattro. Ironically our new fully decked out platinum 4x4 makes them all look kinda stripped in comparison. It is by far the most luxurious vehicle I've owned, but then again mustangs and Subarus are not known for the luxury aspect

We did at the time. We traded a loaded frontier LE in on our screw. We had an 09 WRX and the frontier and I more than the wife was tired of both. We knew we wanted a big vehicle and a true midsize sedan. Cost wasn't really a restriction but neither of us wanted 120k worth of vehicles in our driveway after trades and we wanted the best value for our dollars. We loved the frontier and knew that if we could find something bigger and better equipped we would be sold. I wanted, leather, big touch screen, true hid/projectors, more room than the Nissan, nice stock wheels, etc. Looked at the new gm trucks, dodge, qx56, big mb sub etc and a few cars, 535, A6/7, GS350 etc. We checked a normal fx2 loaded and the wife was sold on the f150 which is 95% of the battle. We couldn't work a deal with that dealer so we checked the following weekend and found our current fx2 5.0 with the black package loaded and we bought it.
It's the nicest vehicle we have ever owned, also the most expensive (by msrp) but for 28k OTD it met both of our expectations. It'd easily as nice inside as my folks Infiniti and lower end Lexus'. Now the WRX feels like a micromachine cramped tiny, cheap, plastic, etc and we are looking to replace it next but after buying the f150 our expectations are higher now.

Sitting on the fence with my Acura TL, it will be the trade in vehicle when/if I pull the trigger on a new FX4
It will be a huge change my 6'-4" will most likely thank me for.

I considered just about every SUV and a few cars under $70k. I was so close to pulling the trigger on a 2014 Jeep SRT it wasn't even funny. When I got to the dealership with my trade in and my checkbook I kept thinking of reasons I shouldn't buy it instead of being excited about the purchase. So I walked. Close 2nd was an Acura MDX but it wasn't really big enough.
I kept going back to the F150, I really wanted a truck and an SUV would have been more of a compromise for my wife. A buddy of mine owns a Ford dealership and made me an offer I couldn't refuse on a 2013 Platinum. I couldn't be happier with the truck and my wife really likes it too. She has already used it to bring home some new furniture!

I've never owned a "true" luxury vehicle, yet I built and bought a brand new XLT loaded with all the important things to me and refused adding some extra things I was "asked" to, because I didn't want to pay for something that in the long run could give me a sour regret to have bought, knowing beforehand that I really didn't need it! This is my luxury vehicle and HOW I LOVE IT!!
I love to find, every day, one more reason to hop in on it and drive it again and again.
I use it for work, but rarely bring someone else in it for that purpose and it helps keep it clean. However, because of the family needs a 6 seater was the logical option and I'm glad I didn't fall into the temptation of a 5 seater. And I tell you the cloth seats are a relief as kids jump on in the back seats and are never too cold in these chilly winter days (so far easy to clean as well). Here I saved lots of money on the Lariat that was first on the list. No comfort or ride joy compromised! They are happy, how couldn't I be too?
Having what one needs at hand's reach, within a budget may not be considered luxury by many, but surely having no headaches in the course of our trucks' ownership is a luxury we all wish for

My '09 fx4 super crew is best of all worlds for me. Loaded with features and classy looking interior. Feels great riding to work in my suit and tie. On weekends it hauls about anything I need it to, everything from furniture, to golf clubs, to fishing equipment and landscaping materials. With the 5.5' bed and a tonneau, it is my Trapline workhorse several months each winter. I love how the truck looks all cleaned up and detailed. I get a lot of compliments on it. The backseat room is HUGE and never had a complaint from any adults riding back there, ever. Lack of Legroom is not a problem, nor is lack of comfort.
Best vehicle I've ever owned.

Just curious how many cross-shopped luxury vehicles or got out of one to buy a F150? I suspect a good number of the higher trim level owners probably did.
I had a Range Rover but just couldn't get over the rear seat space, the luxury and quiet ride of the platinum compared with European sedans/SUVs, along with the much higher utility of a truck. I also prefer the lower profile that driving the most common vehicle on the road affords.

I have a SL55 and an Infinity EX35. Both are better at LUX.
But I use my truck 20:1 to those other vehicles. Yet I wish my truck was a LUX as a LUX car.
The cheesy, we got-the-Range-Rover-guy interior stinks. How many different colors and textures can we get? It is hideous.
Yet, at the time, Ford had the best half-ton in 2011. Maybe with the 2015 model, Ford still does.
Don't worry Ford, I'll still buy your half-tons because nobody else's half-ton can pull or carry a small equipment trailer. But if I didn't need that, I'd buy a Dodge in 2013 and 14 because they have nicer interiors, better LUX features.
Ford, fully 11% of the F150s you're selling are upscale. Continue that trend and continue to introduce richer content in trucks that can actually do something. In other words, for me: the Limited is a dead end because of its reduced hauling and carrying capabilities. And for what? Wheels. Offer 18" wheels in your upscale trucks so guys like myself can consider them.
Go drive an Infiniti or a Merc for inspiration and fire that Range Rover interior guy.
