Pisson pushrods! Too much power wasted in the engine when it should be going to the wheels, hence the over head cam design.

I've been running an MPT 93 Race tune as a DD for a few years now, Love it without a doubt and would never go back stock. Still under warranty but that's a non issue really. One is not going to pop an engine tuned unless you're running it ***** to the wall all the time. (or running an ecoboost tuned by SSI) but that's another story.

For the majority of people tuned it's a simple enhancement in drivability for every day use/towing/getting out of the way of some idiot with no brains and a license to occupy the same road.

If you need to go in for warranty work all it takes is about 5 mins to detune with the click of a couple buttons. Retune when you get it back after verifying repairs.

Note that when you return to stock, you clear all CEL codes. No codes, a lot less interest in helping you out. So don't do it as late as the dealer service lane.

I bought my 2014 FX4 EcoBoost new, and tuned it using Livernois tunes at around 15,000 miles. I now have 105,000 miles on my truck, and I have never had an issue. Keep in mind the tunes I'm running are not extreme and I don't beat on my truck non-stop.

well also the cost of running premium has a large part of it.................... I would take a power loss with a roller cam push rod engine any and all day over an OHC. I can rebuild one of those easily if the case were ever needed. I have doubts of the significance of the power loss between and roller cam rod engine vs a OHC.

Regardless, there is no way the guides or whatever the hell should have any wear issue at 72k miles. I bought the truck with 10k miles on it and have changed the oil with full synthetic and motor craft filter consistently. The main reason I would like to get a tune is for the crappy throttle response (pos drive by wire) and transmission programming.

Who told you an ohc engine required premium fuel? Go back and slap the stupid out of them. The biggest difference in the two engines (yes I have built both) is you have a lot finer tolerances and can turn much higher rpm's in ohc than a push rod engine.

Ever have a push rod jump out of place under the rocker? High rpm caused it. The mechanical link is too weak to stand it. when the cam opens the valve directly you also achieve much better response time and so on and so on.

Perhaps you like old technology and that's fine but it's inferior in every way compared.

Still, I'm impressed with what GM has been able to squeeze out of the 6.2 pushrod engine in the Corvette. But yeah, even that has limitations which is why the next vette is apparently getting a DOHC. I wonder if their trucks will follow and they'll eventually scrap the LT engine's.

Tuning is worth it on nearly any engine except high end sports cars that are already tuned that way (even then it could be worth it).

I would suggest it just for the transmission shifting improvements alone. Couple that with some more HP/TQ out of your engine and it wakes everything up.
