Default How to Connect MP3 Player

My 2010 F150 Lariat has the Nav system with sync. I tried to plug my mp3 player into the 1/4" earphone jack and I couldn't find a media option to access the input jack. There was no "aux input" or similar tab as I understand there should be.

Do I require a software upgrade?

I also understand that I should be able to play MP3s via the usb connection. How does that work?

Thanks for any suggestions.

What kind of MP3 player? I will try it on my truck... My MP3 connects via blue tooth as soon as I start my truck... So I will try it and see...

Line in?

Select media hard button. Cycle to user devices.

Then (and this will also be the same "button" if you cannot play a bluetooth streaming or USB device) select "line in" from the Navi screen toward the upper right side.

*poof*

You can play your toe-tappers.

If you're plugging in to the aux jack, press the Sync button and say "Line In". You'll have to use the mp3 player to choose what you listen to. If you plug in to the USB port, say "USB". You can then control (most) mp3 players with voice commands like "play artist Harry Connick, Jr."
