I just purchased a 2013 F150 FX4 fully loaded the other day and I absolutely love it. I'm coming from an 02 2500HD with crank windows so this is a huge upgrade.
I filled up completely (36 gallons) and as I was driving home babying my truck in the city I was getting 7 mpg (according to screen). I'm currently almost half way through the tank mixed driving and I am at a solid 10.9 mpg. What is up with this? My 2500HD gets better mileage than that.
It has the 5.0 and 3.55 gears in it with 47,545 on it when I bought it.
Any suggestions on what could be wrong? I will do a hand calculation next time I fill up. Speedo is correct.
Hi, I know I have a different engine, but I get 10.8 while towing a 6,300 lb. travel trailer. What you are getting is horrible.
I don't get it. I'll have to mention it to the dealer when I bring it in 2 weeks for them to replace a wheel bearing. I just want to figure this out. My 2500hd if I gunned it every time I accelerated, the lowest I ever saw was like 9.8. Average 10-12 on it lol
I would wait until you do a few fill ups and hand calculate it before worrying too much. It's also winter time and longer warm ups or the winter gas might be affecting mileage. I'm currently averaging 11mpg, whereas I'm closer to 14mpg in the summer on a normal tank. But I tend to use my remote start a lot more in the winter.

The thing is, I do a lot of highway driving. It's been in the 50s so no need to warm the truck up for long, and I'm seeing almost half of the mileage I should be getting, which is not okay at all, even for winter fuel
Yea, something is definitely off. I have a 6.2L and average about 13.5-14 mpg. It's a long shot but perhaps a brake caliper piston is seized and the truck is fighting that? Notice any pulling or tracking to one side if you let go of the steering wheel?
