Default Horizontal coil spring on leaf spring?

Looking at a 2011 F150 XLT than spent most of its life in Canada and I saw something I've never seen, so wondering if anyone else has.

On both rear leaf springs, there is a horizontal coil spring (perhaps 2 to 2.5 inches in diameter) that stretches roughly from the rear shackle on the leaf spring to the middle of the leaf spring near the axle. It's on the top side of the leaf spring. It

It's almost like it's there to provide additional resistance so the leaf can't flex as easily when a load is on, such as some sort of heavy duty tow package or add-on.

I would venture a guess that the rear sits up just a wee bit higher than normal stance.

Has anyone seen these? Any idea what they are for?

Again, perhaps these are part of a HD or max tow package, but I've never paid much attention.

Sorry I don't have a pic but I can post one in the next couple days. Again, it runs horizontally between the middle of leaf to the rear shackle, almost as if it's laying on top of the leaf spring.

Thx.

That sounds like the Roadmaster active suspension.
It indeed helps with extra load & weight control.
Not a bad product & Works pretty good.
Here's a pic: (it's not my truck.... I have Firestone airbags instead-just my preference)
