is there a way of disabling the built in GPS in my 2013 XLT?

I do not have the nav feature and I was just reading what Jim Farley recently said at a panel discussion in Las Vegas
“We know everyone who breaks the law, we know when you’re doing it. We have GPS in your car, so we know what you’re doing. By the way, we don’t supply that data to anyone,”

I'd rather have a tin foil hat than a duct tape brain

Disabling it is easy. Find chip and wrap in foil.

I don't know if this will do it but there is a GPS module located just underneath the center dash tray:

I would guess you have to cover the antenna to block the satellite signal which is on the roof

I wonder if changing the setting in the pcm to allow gps in drive would be same as installing a lockpick?

Default Paranoia

Sometimes I don't understand the whys of some thinking!

I'm glad I have a GPS module. I use a portable GPS to navigate to addresses I don't know of and trips, but sometimes when I don't use it and I want to know if I'm going in the right direction (specially at night) I'm happy that I just need to look to the centre display and get that info.
Also in the event of a serious collision I believe MySync will reach for help if one can't (not sure how it works, but I was told that most of our trucks are set for this).

As last instance, why the concern about the GPS?
Have you something to hide?
If you care to solidly explain your point of view, I might agree with you in your own reality.
