Default HID BULB Upgrade

I have the 2014 fx 4 with the OEM hid bulbs. I want to make them brighter to see at night. Can I just upgrade the bulb or do I need to upgrade the whole assembly? If I can upgrade the bulb where can I get them?

There's 2 ways to upgrade the output of the factory HIDs:
1- get a pair of 50w ballasts, a pair of 50w HID capsules. Then hope your wiring is perfect in everyway.

2-Get upgraded 35w capsules. Do NOT buy the garbage on eBay! Buy directly from a reputable manufacturer. Osram/Sylvania, Toshiba or Philips are the only companies actually making legitimate HID products. Each legitimate capsule has a verification code on the box

I bought the Philips D3S X-treme Vision capsules. Part number 42403XVC1. These are a +50% capsule Made In Germany. (and yes, the codes checked out. I definitely see a difference.

HTH!

Never had an issue seeing at night with my factory HID's. Now, the reverse lights are a completely different story.

Retrofitsource sells good-inexpensive bulbs of other temperatures.

bake them open and throw in some EvoX-R 2.0 projectors. i just did that to mine in December and holy hell - you can see the road now. still on stock bulbs and ballast too. you can get brighter bulbs but i would first get better projectors. the stock HID projector sucks, it really does compared to a true HID projector. wide beam and sharp cutoff with great color. i'll get some bulbs probably in the summer but for now, they're fine.
