Hey guys
I’m new here but I have a 2010 xl 2wd 4.6 thanks to you guys I purchased the hellwig rear sway bar and got to say night and day difference.
Ive been searching everywhere and can’t find my answer. I need headers currently just ticking when cold like 30seconds I believe I have a2v engine could you guys help me out and not a set of 1700$ headers lol
also need and intake but can only seem to find the stupid filter the 5.4 looks like it’ll fit however unsure about the PCv hose as mine seems to clip on
The 4.6L 2V while durable, is not known for it's performance, UNLESS you get serious - cylinder head work, forced induction, etc.. Another option is nitrous, but it too has drawbacks.
Headers: Unless you go long-tube accompanied with appropriate performance tuning + cylinder head mod's (which amounts to $$$$$), gains (HP and otherwise) will be minimal. MEANING: Don't bother with shorties.
The exhaust system (muffler and resonator) is already free-flowing, straight thru and stainless steel. Replacing it with after-market is a waste of $$$ (no performance and/or MPG gains), unless again you go with extensive engine mod's.
Air Intake; It's already CAI (Cold Air Iintake) and flows more than enough for N/A (Naturally Aspirated). A *free* improvement is the Gott's mod' - removing the airbox inlet tube which increases the size of the opening.

Regarding aftermarket air intake systems ...

OEM, stock .....
- already CAI.
- air intake from LH (driver) wheel well behind the inner fender shield.
- air box has a lid. MEANING: It's not a HAI (HotAirIntake) allowing heated engine bay air.
- is made-of plastic. MEANING: Less heat-soak.
- IAT reading is nearly same as an aftermarket. reference
- CFM exceeds engine requirements/needs. *UNLESS über engine modifications are done. e.g. cylinder head and/or cams.
. - any increase in air flow comes at the expense of filtration.
. - no contaminating the MAF sensor with oil. *Which reduces performance and MPG.
. - Motorcraft, OEM air filters ...
- meets|exceeds engine air intake CFM requirements. reference
- good for 30,000+ miles (depending upon conditions).
- ABSOLUTELY NO possibility of MAF sensor oil contamination.
- dispose and replace maintenance.
- there are NO performance and/or MPG gains with aftermarket air intake systems. If you're looking for performance and/or possible MPG gains, put your $$$$$ towards a tuner+tune(s).
Thank you for the reply. As far as performance goes I’m not looking for power or anything my intake tube is epoxied where the pcv hose connects and I believe it is leaking.
My mindset on headers are I’d get a quality set as opposed to cast for durability
