HELP please... Is it normal for 2011 trans to shift to 6th at 65mph minimum?
Started a thread on this a few weeks ago and got little response. Hope you guys can help. The service manual states 5-6 shift should occur between 45-49 mph. Mine won't shift until 65 even with very light throttle. Been to dealer twice and engineering response said this is normal, truck WILL NOT shift until 60 minimum and no repair is needed. I don't buy it. Perhaps this is why some owners on here are getting poor gas mileage as I didn't realize this was happening until I learned how to display the gear info on the dash display. I know my mpg improves a good bit by manually shifting in the 45-49 mph range. Hoping to gather data to back my complaint to ford cust assist. Thanks for you help

My F-150 (5.0 / 3.55LS) tends to shift to 6th once it reaches 45 MPH and it seems to hold 6th down to about 40 MPH or so.
Make sure you aren't in tow/haul mode. If you aren't in tow/haul mode, try turning it on (maybe something is reversed).

I've noticed the truck seems to shift to 5th and 6th too often just cruising around in city traffic. Really annoying having to wait for it to gear down when you want some decent acceleration.
What I've started using now for city driving is locking out 5th/6th gear (sometimes 4th depending). Works great tho mileage will probably suffer...

No not normal unless you are accelerating moderately or more. Mine hits 6th about 45 if Im taking it easy. If getting on hwy, at 45 Im just getting into 4th and 6th is 60-65.

Same configuration here, same behavior. Will hold 6th on flat ground to around 1100 RPM. With a 4.10 rear, I would think you'd be in 6th at lower speed than us. Perhaps the eco torque, though more plentiful, is less so in the low RPM range, but again with a 4.10, it would be a few hundred RPM higher at the same speed as the 5.0/3.55. I'd have someone look at it.

Normally I hit 5th at 35 mph and 6th at 40 mph. If I'm in the throttle it's usually 45-50 mph before I hit 6th. 3.73 gears. I would check tow/haul as mentioned and then talk to the dealer if that doesn't solve your problem.

Driving around town this morning, if I accelerated up to 45 and took my foot off the gas it would shift into 6th. By the time I was down below 40 it was back in 5th. If I accelerated through 45 it would not upshift to 6th.
