Angry HELP! My front shock absorber is cracked

So today I was trimming some of my front fender off to help with rubbing when I noticed this crack in my front driver's side shock. I have no idea when or how it happened, but it has definitely happened within the last month.

Any thoughts? I was thinking of upping to some Bilsteins anyway, but I'm just curious if this is a safety hazard or if its ok if I drive on it for a while.

Oh and I have a 2" front leveling kit, so I'm guessing that the extra stress from that maybe caused it?

Took me 5 minutes to figure ot the darn picture is sideways!
Its only the housing, as long as it doesnt leak and the shock works fine fuggedbouit.

Haha sorry! I didn't realize it posted like that. Here it is rotated upright (I hope).
Thanks for the input, I hope that is the extent of the issue

Can you tear that piece off? Does it look like it could come off on the road?
It would be a drag to have your rear tire cut open...

No its still pretty solid because the crack isn't along the whole piece, its only about 1.5in long.

Leave it alone. As long as the shock works and it doesnt bother anything its OK, the only other option is to get a new shock.

Couldn't you get it replaced under warranty?

I doubt it because he has a levelling kit.

I wouldn't worry about it!!!! When you upgrade to bilstein's you will need to replace that part because you need to reuse it on the new shock.
