Help with door panels to replace speakers
I second that. I did my fronts like that. Just had to trim some plastic off around the screws, using diagonals or Dremel if you have one 'o them.
Is ok, you gurly men out there. Once you put grilles back on, you cannot see the trim job.
The best way to release the little black plate behind the handle is with something with a hook, like a peg board hook. Just pull the door handle out and reach behind it with the hook and give a little tug. IT will pop right out.
By the way, you don't have to remove the window switch panel or the door handle. For the window switches just reach underneath and their is a small tab towards the front that you push in to release the harness. THe door handle cable can be released by taking a pair of needle nose players and squeezing the ears that keep the colored "guide" in place and pushing it back through then you can release the entire door. By doing this you don't have to pry on the soft plastic to much.
Double check window operation before putting the door back together. WHen I installed my Infinity Kappa Components up front, I had to make spacer brackets out of 1/2" plywood so the woofer would clear the window going up and down.
Do yourself a favor when you go to put the front door back on, take a hammer and tap out the little black trim ring that closes in the lock plunger hole. I only had to do the front door because the plunger is very short. I fought with one door for almost a half hour before taking that piece out. Once it was out I had the door back on in less then 2 min.
