Help choosing running boards please.
Not the best picture but here is my truck as of today:
Obviously it's a Lariat chrome package and I am trying to "de-chrome" it a little. I did black billet inserts on the grill and lower eco-opening. Added the bug shield which is black and covered some chrome. Vent visors are black and my bed cover is black. Yakima roof rack helped too.
I don't really have the paint scheme to black everything out and still have it look good. So I need to be careful in choosing running boards.
My first two options:
1. AMP powered boards - can't really drop $1k plus on running boards right now.
2. None at all. Concern here is me and other people getting in and out since the front is raised 2". Also I do stand on the boards to tie down my kayak.
3. Nfab black tubes. I really like this look but can't go too rugged with my paint/wheel package.
Sorry for the rant. Love to hear some opinions.

I have the same color truck. I put Ionic factory style running boards on mine with the weathertech no drill mud flaps. I was a little leary of the black but after having them on I like them.

wait. what?
in my opinion anything other than the chrome ones currently on it or the older style chrome ones would look out of place. it's kind of like with my 2010 King Ranch, I feel like an aftermarket grille or aftermarket black wheels or black headlights would look strange just because the lariat/king ranch packages with 2-tone seem to have a certain classiness about them that clashes with most aftermarket stuff.
with that said, I drove my truck for quite some time without any running boards at all and I never had a problem getting in or out. but it was a stock suspension 4wd. I'm 5'10" and my 5'6" girlfriend never seemed to mind it either. I just recently put my boards back on just for the hell of it.

You nailed my dilemma. I'm thinking something black with a chrome accent may work. I just took them off. Gonna roll with that a week or so. Go from there. Finding pictures of two tone trucks with various boards is tough.

I really want a set of Chrome ones like the ones on your truck, but the only way to get them on a new King Ranch is by getting the Chrome Package. Which comes with the Chrome Lariat Rims with "Special Center Caps", Chrome door cover, chrome mirror covers, chrome tailgate handle, and chrome steps. I just didnt care for all the chrome and really wanted the tan 20" KR rims.
