Help avoid car alarm
Just bought a 2012 f150 Saturday and found an annoying feature after we got it home. It only came with one key, with the transponder no fob. If you unlock the door with the key you have about a minute to then turn on the accessories before the alarm goes off.
Tried programming a fob to it, guy couldn't get it to program. Tried Programming a new key directly to the truck, didn't work.
any ideas?

same with me when i got my 2012 used,
to make another key, you either have to go to a dealer, get forscan and diy, or have a "clone" made. i bought blanks from ebay and had a neighbor use forscan.
the fobs you can do yourself following the procedure in the manual. you can get 2 from ebay for less than $10. this is what i did.
i now have 3 working keys and fobs.

I bought this key (I have factory remote start):
https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-FORD-20...-/284144284887
You can get a different key if you don't have remote start.
I took it to a local hardware store and they cut it to match my existing key for $1.
Then I used a laptop with free Forscan software to connect to my truck with this compatible cable. With just a few clicks, I was able to program the key to properly start the truck.
Then using this procedure I programmed the fob to lock and unlock the truck.
No need to go to the dealer and pay hundreds of dollars. Where did you buy your fob and new key? What trim level is your truck? XL? Lariat?
