Default Help ac clutch replacement

Hey I’m new here and having A problem installing a new AC clutch. Everything came off easy but when I went to put the new clutch on it seems the shaft on the compressor is larger than the intake on the new clutch. I am replacing the clutch with a motorcraft yb-3111. The truck is a 2013 f150 regular cab short bed 4x4 with the 5.0. Is there a trick to getting the new clutch on?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I would just replace the entire compressor. there is a reason that clutch went out after only six years.

It was working fine until I took it through an uncut hayfield running about 50 mph. I’m thinking I must have gotten something rammed into the engine bay and messed it up I also found a few minor things that were messed up.

Best to replace the entire compressor. You're not going to save that much by just doing the clutch.

It’s not worth it trying to go the cheap route. Trust me. I just changed the alternator twice in six months on my wife’s car because I tried to buy a cheap part. And it’s one that’s a bitch to change.

A YB-3111 (assuming that's the right part, I can't find anything that says it is) is $30-40 (RockAuto) and takes only one bolt to replace. The complete Motorcraft compressor is $312 (RockAuto) plus you have to go through the whole deal with the TXV valve ($35), drier ($69), flush ($extra) (all required if you want a warranty on the parts) and necessary R134a recharge after a vacuum. If you can't do the work yourself, you're probably looking at nearly $1000.

For a simple clutch failure, which one makes the most sense to the owner (who can turn a wrench for simple stuff)?

FWIW, I don't think the YB3111 is the correct hub for that compressor on that engine. Probably why it doesn't fit.

Did a bit more digging this AM.

It appears the YB3111 is the wrong part for this truck. The YB3111 fits the FS20 compressor but the '13 F150 w/5.0L used the DKS20DT compressor.

Can't find just a hub for the DKS20DT, only a "complete" clutch kit of the hub, pulley, and coil. Part numbers YB3146 & YB3173 both came up but I can't tell if they're interchangeable or, if not, what the correct one might be. The OP would likely need to put their VIN into one of the Ford parts site's tool to see what it says.

Thank you for all your help. You were correct about the compressor model. It’s crazy how every parts store computer showed the correct part as yb3111. I’m either going to replace the compressor and all the corresponding parts that are recommended or try and find an used compressor and pull the clutch assembly of of it and try that.
