Default Heated seats auto settings

I was wondering if anyone can help me with this. I live in Northern Alberta and it is bloody cold up here. My 2011 F150 has leather/heated seats and the truck has the factory remote start. In the menu settings under remote start/seats is a setting called "auto" which is what I have it set to.

However, the heated seats do not come on whe ni use the remote starter. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks

I have the same issue in my new '12 F-150. In addition, I also had the same issue in my previous '11 Explorer. The dealership can not give me an answer as to why.

Is the climate control (not the seats) set to auto or last? Maybe that causes the problem?

My seat heaters work with the remote start as long as it is cold enough outside. Work with the AC too. But my menu setting is auto for everything.

Since the remote start climate controls are set to "auto" in the settings menu... That means before you get out of your pickup select "AUTO" or automatic temperature for you temperature on the dash with your heater controls.

If you do this it will read off of the ambient temperature sensor to turn on the appropriate heat/cooled seats, and heat or A/C. If you control the fan speed manually IE: anything other than AUTO isn't reading off the ambient temp sensor and it won't turn anything on.

I was looking for an old thread that had something similar.

I had a 2011 FX4 with all the goodies and the auto heated seats never really worked unless it was really cold outside. (Well under 32).

Well i just picked up a 2013 Raptor and it was 37 outside, and when i get in the truck it said 46, well sure enough my seat was warm. So i think something is up. Either they adjusted the starting temperature, or somewhere in the software for the older trucks they have something setup incorrectly.

Default Heated seats - auto issues

Thanks for the replies. I did do as one suggested and turned the climate control to Auto before shutting off vehicle. One problem is that when you use the remote start, none of the climate control or heated seat lights comeo on (by some strange design by Ford) so obviously it does not indicate if they are on. Another post i read says you basically have to see if the seat is warm to the touch which mine was not.

As for temperature, it certainly was cold enough (about 0 F when i tried)
I will be sur to post any solution I come up with should i find one

I have an '11 and a '12 both I thought the seats never came on until I had a guy at my dealer tell me to bump the run time from 10 to 15 minutes after remote starting and give the seats a little longer to warm up. Today was the first day I tried it and it worked in both my trucks. The seats were not hot but they were for sure starting to warm up. It seems to really take them awhile to get going.

I still think is something in the programing.

My truck was on about 5 min this morning and i felt them as soon as i got on the truck.

It actually surprise me.

In my old 11 i felt it once, but it was really cold outside, and the truck was on for about 10 min.

Tell me, does your 2013 Raptor only have heated seats, or does it have cooled seats too? My neighbor's 11 Raptor only has heated seats, so it has the conventional heating elements in the seat cushion that from my experience, warm up quickly and can get quite hot. The F150's with both cooled and heated seats use a different technology (I think it's called thermoelectic Peltier Junction?) and you can hear a fan blowing the warm air when the heated seats are activated. I don't find this to work as rapidly or effectively as the conventional heating element style.

This could support my theory above that the Peltier junction-based seats need more time to warm up.

Mine has both. Heated and cooled.

My 11 FX4 only had heated.

I think the 12 and up they started to make the raptors and FX4 with both AC/heat if you got the right package.

The heating part of the seat work the same as the old models just thin electric elements under the leather. The AC part is different.
