Default Headlights stuck on???

I have a 2011 FX2 and my headlights and parking lights wont shut off even when I move the switch to off.

Anyone have any ideas?

I noticed last night that my lights were still on after we'd been home about 30 minutes. I went outside and turned the switch off and they remained on.

I ended up having to pull the rear parking, front parking, L headlight and R headlight fuses to get them to turn off for the night.

I checked it out today and I can't find anything obviously wrong...All fuses are good ect.

Tried to get it into the dealer before the holiday but no luck so it looks like no night driving until Monday.

Ur headlight relay is sticking. The switch does not turn on the headlights directly. The switch completes a circuit for the hewadlight relay which turns the headlights on. It is a bi-metal switch which is activated by the current. It is obviously sticking in the "on" position.

UPDATE:

I took it to the dealer at 7am yesterday and at 11am they sent me home in a rental.

They replaced the headlight switch and SJB (which has the built in Headlight and parking light relays) and that did not fix it.

They have narrowed it down to a wiring problem in the dash harness and told me to look at three days repair time.

Just to put this out there... Dealer explained to me that there are two relays for the 2011 headlamp and parking lamp circuits and they are built in to the SJB...so they cannot be replaced with replacing the SJB.

I'll update this further as I find out more.

Just heard from the dealer and they have ordered the dash harness and expect it in tomorrow so I should be able to pick her up tomorrow.

Hopefully! This base model rental F-150 stinks.

Picked her up last night and it's fixed.

I spoke with the tech that worked on her and he said that I actually had two problems..but he thinks one caused the other...It's hard to tell.

He found the dash wiring harness was pinched where the dash bolts into the cab. Probably happened during assembly. He replaced it and then discovered the headlamps switch was shorted out so he replaced that and it was fixed.

He believes the pinched/shorted wires shorted out the switch.

So I have a new dash harness properly routed and a new switch... I'm happy!

Default Headlight Switch

I had an issue today with my headlamp switch. I recently purchased a 2009 XLT screw at 26k,now at 29k

Drove in the rain today for the first time . I turned the headlamp switch to run headlamps/rear lights (not in auto light position). Lights came on but the dashlights didn't. Drove under an overbridge and the dashlights popped on while in very low light. Seems the auto sensor worked while not switched to auto ?

Do the dashlights only come on when in low light when headlamp switched to normal in headlight or side light position ? I would have thought that the manual headlight position would light the dashlights no matter how bright?
