Default Hard Wire

I went to hard wire my radar detector using the add-a-fuse,but the cable that came with my radar is not long enough.I can solder some wire making the cable longer, but does the wire have to be the same gauge?

Nope sure doenst as long as you dont go with a bigger like 18 to 4 gauge, but even then..... any who, just dont go way smaller. Stay with in one or two gauge range.

The radar detecter draws very little power[less than 1 amp] a 16 gauge wire should be more than sufficent you could even go down to a 18or20 gauge without a problem Bubbabud
