I hate to admit this - but, I went cover to cover in my manual for my 2013 FX4...I'm **** like that...and had the HARDEST time when it came to programming the garage door opener buttons...
After about 24 hours...it dawned on me - in the manual - they have both Car2U and Homelink directions - and I could've sworn my little picture matched up to the Homelink ones - so I was trying to do the Homelinke opener instructions; unfortunately, the system in my truck is the Car2U one!
As soon as I tried those instructions - my programming worked the very first time.

Got mine to work by.......
I have the same: Genie, rolling codes.
Home2U visor buttons, not HOMELINK
I got mine to work by first wiping to default/clear codes (hold down outer most 2 buttons for @ 20 seconds till red light flashes, then release.
Parking under the head unit (garage opener motor) so I could reach the buttons in the truck and the buttons on the head unit at the same time.
Press the head unit program button for 2 seconds (blue light steady)
Release the head unit program button (red light flashing)
Press visor buttons 1 and 3 (outermost buttons) for 2 seconds, then release.
Press visor button of your choice in truck and "HOLD" till you see the led on the garage door head unit go from red light flashing to blue light steady, then "QUICKLY" release the visor button. Wait a few seconds the your remote should work now and you may have to hold it down for up to 6 or 7 seconds for the head unit to see it.
My garage door never moved until after I did all of the above, contrary to the directions.
This procedure I stumbled across from many attempts at following directions from my owners manual, the garage door manual and web site, and google with no luck.
Hope it helps someone

I just programmed my Car2U to work with my three Genie Garage Door openers today. No problems at all. The process listed by WH-7 spells it out pretty clearly. The only difference I experienced is that after holding the desired button for the given garage door on the visor, the garage door did start to move after 10 - 20 seconds as stated in the manual. Per the manual I quickly released the visor button I was holding. After that the garage door worked as expected.

I have a Linear and can't get it to work with my 2012 either, which has Car2U. Frankly, I should have taken it to the dealer and made them swap it out for a Homelink visor once I figured out it wasn't supported. It seems to be a complete crapshoot on which one you get, disappointing considering that it is an extra cost option on most trim levels.

I just got my new driver visor (car2u) from the UPS lady this morning, 2 screws and the plug, 10 minutes later it was programmed. It is a '12 part #, just found page 113 of my 2011 user manual and followed the instructions. Works a treat.
Door opener is a craftsman about 8 years old, no idea who made it.

This might sound stupid...but wtf is a "rolling code"??
I have a Martin DC2500e Garage Door and I believe I have the Car2u system (my truck opener looks like the Car2u pic in manual). I don't see a "learn" button or anything like that. It has a "P" button on it. The Owners Manual for the Garage Door is a joke.
Any idea?

In Canada we have rolling code, it changes your code every time you press the button, I had a pain the *** time with my last truck, this truck doesn't have the opener.

My garage door opener is about 8 years old. Had trouble programming mine as well. After calling the number in the owners manual and running through the steps again with the Car2U guy several times I had no luck. Last resort was the rep sending me a Wayne Dalton adapter/receiver which I had to wire into the garage door opener. I then programmed my F150 to the new adapter/receiver and WA LAH, it worked. Haven't had any problems with it since.
